TESTIMONIALS

“I highly recommend Harry Shulman. There are many lawyers who do a "good" job and then there are those who do exceptional work. I am in a unique position to know: In addition to being Harry's client, I've also been a lawyer myself for over 35 years; I have years of experience in the courtroom in addition to serving as chief legal officer of two companies. I've seen the worst and the best. Harry is one of the best.”

Client

“I endorse this lawyer's work. Harry is among the very best---unlike many others, Harry knows the law, makes the right arguments, and does the work necessary to obtain great results for his clients and the classes they represent. His credentials and perspective are uncommon too. He's an Ivy Leaguer who was a partner in a big commercial firm before switching to the Plaintiff's side to stand up for the little guy.”

Co-counsel

“I thought the motion practice was good on both sides in this case. The briefs filed were excellent. I want to congratulate the plaintiffs for being tenacious. They were absolutely tenacious in their briefing. And I was very impressed that you were able to do as much as you could given the resources that you have on such a tight turnaround. Sometimes the frame was exceedingly tight, but the work-product did not suffer appreciably in any sense and the Court is mindful of that. And you had excellent opposition because the defense was very well represented [by Winston & Strawn] and certainly was something you had to contend with. And I think you did so well. . . . You don't just luck into a settlement in an area like this. You do need to have proper attorneys who are versed in the law and procedures involved in putting a case like this together. I think what you said in declarations more than demonstrates that this case, on the plaintiffs' side, has been litigated by lawyers of the highest and best caliber in this area. So I just want to note that for the record.”

“Highly professional.”

LIFE IS FULL of unfairness. Sometimes unfairness is caused when a company cuts corners, or consciously decides that its profits are more important than its impact on consumers. Our job is to get compensation for you when that kind of unfairness occurs. Every day, businesses - even well known, respected companies - are chipping away at consumer rights. DON'T' BE A VICTIM. Stand up for your rights or they will be gone!

Harry Shulman has handled many cases on behalf of consumers who were wronged. Even small wrongs - $5 here, $10 there - can be remedied through class action lawsuits. Class actions were designed for people who were harmed by similar mistreatment, whether in small amounts or large amounts, by a comparatively powerful corporation. Courts have recognized that, without class actions, defendants "might get away with piecemeal highway robbery by committing many small violations that were not worth the time and effort of individual plaintiffs to redress or were beyond their ability or resources to remedy."  You can play a role in preventing that kind of highway robbery!

RIGHT NOW, we are investigating the following types of cases:

Trade School Fraud: It seems like every day newspapers are reporting about another for-profit school that has induced people to pay big tuition bills based on false promises of success. The schools arrange high cost financial aid for students, who then pay it over to the schools. When things get bad, only the students and the lenders suffer. The school has already banked the money and has no continuing accountability to the student. The student's accountability, however, is permanent, as it is nearly impossible to discharge student loans in bankruptcy. If you or someone you know has been the victim of trade school fraud, go to the "Contact Us" page, get in touch with us, and we will evaluate whether you have a claim at no cost to you.

Defective Products: Products are getting more and more complicated, and accordingly, they can fall short in more and more ways. When manufacturers make promises about the performance or features of a product, you are entitled to hold them to those promises. Did your product last as long as the manufacturer said it would? Did it have the functionality the manufacturer said it would? Has it been expensive to keep going, where no one told you it would be? In circumstances like these, you may have a claim. Contact us and we will evaluate it for you.

Financial Institution Fraud: Congress has been trying for years to limit abuses by financial institutions, but the financial industry is extraordinarily powerful. Congress recently passed a new consumer financial protection act which tries to reign in some of the more flagrant abuses by the industry, such as repeat bounced check charges because the bank paid the most expensive check first, then bounced five smaller checks which it could have paid them all had it only sequenced them differently. One thing we know is that when Congress acts, the financial institutions look for loopholes to keep their profit margins. If you have been subjected to fees or charges which you believe were excessive, unfair or undisclosed, contact us and we will evaluate them for you.

False Promises: Manufacturers and sellers of goods make lots of false promises. For example, the DVD you bought might say "cc", for closed captioned. But are the special features captioned too? That matters a lot to people with hearing loss. If you bought something and it wasn't what you thought it would be, you may have a claim. Let us take a look for you.

Our goal is to empower consumers. There are resources on this website that will enable you to investigate your rights for yourself. If you think you have a claim, we will evaluate it with you. We want you to stand up for yourself - and for others - if you have been wronged. Businesses know that even if consumers realize they have been cheated, they may not know they have legally enforceable rights. Even those who know this seldom take action. They take advantage of this ignorance and apathy. Be an informed consumer, and help us in the fight to keep business honest for everyone.
